AnimalsTaiwan
Volunteer
I joined AT in August, 2007. At
first, I didn’t get
involved with too many things. Mostly, I was helping our volunteer
coordinator, Michelle. Gradually, as I started finding out more about
AnimalsTaiwan, I started doing the flea market with Liza at Grandma
Nitty’s. Currently, I go to Liza's flea market every week.
The members in AT are very special. We speak
many different languages
such as English, Chinese, Spanish and Japanese. This heterogeneity
gives AT a special vitality that I really enjoy. It also makes things
much more interesting and creative. For example, I like to think of new
ideas, and find that people in AT like to try new things. This is very
encouraging and exciting to me.
As mentioned, I help out at the flea market
every Sunday night. The
flea market is the best experience that I have had with AnimalsTaiwan
so far. There are two reasons for this: one is that we sell
merchandises to help animals; the other is that we recycle second-hand
stuff.
Through AnimalsTaiwan, I have made new
friends, get to practice
English, and have the opportunity to contribute my ideas. If you have
spare time and want to meet new people and make a difference at the
same time, I highly recommend helping out at the flea market. You can
email
.
If you want to help AnimalsTaiwan, but don’t
think the flea
market is what you are looking for, there are many other things you can
do! In addition to the flea market, I have done some computer work for
AT, some translation of emails, and created a document for our flea
market. I have posted an advertisement on a college BBS trying to
recruit more volunteers and it worked. If any of this sounds
interesting to you, you can email AT’s Volunteer Coordinator

(Michelle)。 Grandma

AnimalsTaiwan
Volunteer
I have been a volunteer for Animals Taiwan
for over a year now. It has
been a great opportunity for me to donate my time and energy to a
social cause that I believe in, while giving back to my community. At
first, I started out doing booth duty at events and helping out at
doggie cookie bakes. Now, I just donate my time to the Sunday flea
market at Grandma Nitti's restaurant. We sell clothing and household
items; some are new but most are used. All the items that we sell have
been donated to AT. Some have even been sent to us from other parts of
the island. The flea market is a fun event to volunteer and shop at.
The people watching is great (because some people can get downright
crazy over a good deal!), but most importantly, the company of the
other AT volunteers is the real bonus. Please come by, or better yet,
spend some time with us and volunteer a few hours of your Sunday! Hope
to see you there!

Grandma
